A little float adventure

Hi everyone,

I have been negligent in keeping up with some of you for the last month, as I have been dreaming and planning for some time of taking a long float trip, starting in Calgary, and ending somewhere far away – perhaps St. Louis or New Orleans.

I plan to put-in just beyond the Calgary Weir, in Pearce Estate Park, around 7:00 am. Sunday morning – that's tomorrow.

I don't know how long this trip will last or anything that will happen – it might last a day, or five months. I am taking a laptop, so I may be able to blog along the way, at kevinfloat.blogspot.com. I may also be taking a cat, and a bicycle.

As you can imagine, I still have a lot left to do, but I hope I can at least keep some of you informed by telephone or email as I go along.

So I think you're off floating, and I missed you by a few hours, so perhaps I'm asking this for 2009, to repeat what I sent you via Flickr on June 22, 08: Earth Share of Missouri is ramping up to redesign its brochure, and we were wondering if we might use one of your photos "Picklecreek". We are a small non-profit, and while Earth Share of MO represents 70 environmental orgs, we have a tiny budget for this project (i.e. I'm doing the non-profit grovel). We can "trade" photo credit, links to your photos on the web, and give lots of good vibes in that you'll be helping some great organizations.
I particularly like one of your Pickle creek shots (being partial to the conservation area myself, as you can figure out from my Flickr id!, which is how I happened upon your pix). Please check out Earth Share of MO at http://www.earthsharemo.org and let me know if you will consider contributing a photo. Thanks!

Hey Daniel,It looked like the caerma did indeed (for some unknown reason) stop recording, unfortunately. I wish it had capture the whole thing. It was strange because the battery was fine and the memory card wasn't full. I'm not sure what happened . . . but I apologize for that. Fortunately the audio is complete! If you're ever back in Seattle, let me know!Greg
